Nokia and NI Demo 10Gbps Speeds Over mmWave Spectrum

Nokia Networks and National Instruments have kickstarted the conversation about spectrum once again at the Brooklyn 5G Summit with their 10Gbps speed demonstration. The system operated over the air in the mmWave spectrum, at 73GHz, and Nokia claims that the speeds ‘will offer users enough capacity wherever they go to perform every function they desire without a drop in speed or connection, no matter how many people are connected ’. “one of the world leaders in characterising high-frequency spectrum” Lauri…

More Mitsubishi Antenna Tests For 5G

Mitsubishi Electric is showing a 5G Active Phased Array Antenna prototype in conjunction with Nokia Networks at the Brooklyn 5G Summit this week. ““APAA” technology is already used commercially” Whilst the “APAA” technology is already used commercially in satellites and other systems, the Japanese company is adapting it to use the 3.5GHz frequency band, with four-beam spatial multiplexing achieved with a multi-element antenna as well as beamforming control of the direction of radio signal transmission and reception for two-dimensional vertical and horizontal scanning.…
