Ericsson says 5G will integrate existing and new technologies

Ericsson has provided a few more details of its Dynamic Interference Control demonstration with KT last week, and insists that the road to 5G will be built upon the further development of LTE. On Thursday we posted on the rather sketchy report of the trial and how it was being linked to 5G. Ericsson has confirmed that the trial was of dynamic power control and interference co-ordination technology being outlined within 3GPP R12 specifications. That, of course, makes it part of the LTE-A progression path, although…

KT and Ericsson show off Dynamic Interference Co-Ordination

Image credit: whowired.com KT and Ericsson have reportedly successfully demonstrated a technology termed Dynamic Interference Control. A report described DIC as ‘a prerequisite factor for 5G futuristic telecommunications’. According to the report on WhoWired, DIC controls interference signals between terminal devices and nearby base stations, improving download speeds by an average of 30% and enhancing voice quality. Re-emphasising its commitment to ‘spearhead 5G telecommunications’, KT has linked the technology’s ability to secure quality services in populated urban areas with 5G, predicting the deployment of denser networks in high frequency…
