SK Telecom steps up cmWave research to 19.1Gbps throughput

SK Telecom and Nokia Networks have said that they have achieved a max throughput of 19.1Gbps over the air, using 8x8MIMO and 256 QAM in 400MHz of bandwidth.

The two companies said they had demonstrated downlink transmission from an access point operating in cmWave (6-30GHz) frequencies to a test device.

Alex Jinsung Choi, Chief Technology Officer, SK Telecom, said: ” With the world’s first demonstration of the cmWave technology, we have reached a significant milestone towards realising 5G. The 19.1Gbps transmission speed we achieved almost meets one of the key capabilities of 5G defined by the ITU-R.”
