5G spec process starts for real at 3GPP meeting in Busan

Today is the last day of a five day meeting being held in Busan, South Korea. The meeting, of the 3GPP’s RAN Working Group one and officially numbered 3GPPRAN1#84, has seen around 400 delegates gather together to develop specifications of next generation radio network and air interface technologies. SK Telecom says 28GHz trials go well

SK Telecom said today that tests of equipment operating at the 28GHz mmWave band, carried out since August 2015, had gone well. The company has been testing base stations in the frequency, along with a test mobile device within a vehicle since August 2015, based on test equipment from Samsung.
